My Story
What started out as a hobby, quickly grew to a passion I couldn't seem to control. Part of that is what motivated me to start Bonsai Portsmouth. I felt there was a lack of good quality pre-bonsai starter material for not extremely high prices and that was making the hobby less accessible to more people. After being blown away visiting bonsai nurseries, I always dreamed of opening one, especially in New Hampshire. Another barrier to entry for a lot of people is the problem of "what do I do with my trees in the winter?" As someone who has sadly lost some pretty incredible trees trying to overwinter them on my own, I thought, I can't be the only one. I am proud to say that Bonsai Portsmouth is going to be offering overwintering at affordable prices - not to mention, how many of you wanted to work on some deciduous trees over the winter but couldn't because it was just too cold or you missed your repotting window because of some gnarly fluctuation in the early spring temperatures? I know I have! I am also proud to say that we are going to be offering classes, workshops, and private lessons for enthusiasts of all skill levels. At the end of the day, if I am growing this hobby by one person, just one, that is a successful day for me. I love bonsai and I love the lessons it has taught me not only about horticulture, but also, about life. I really look forward to meeting every one of you and embarking on this beautiful journey together.
Peace and Bonsai
